Mami Yamaguchi
Mami faciltates Turning Point in Japan. Previously, she worked (in administration, marketing, and staff training) for a company that provides resources for national qualifications. In 1998 she explored the relationship between mind and colour at the Shikisai Gakkou (Colour Shool). She holds a diploma in Japanese literature.
After moving to New Zealand in 2000, she studied psychology under Dr Jamin Halberstadt, a cognitive and social psychologist at the University of Otago. She earned a PhD in positive psychology on the topic of goal pursuit and well-being. While studying for her PhD, she worked as a research assistant and a lab demonstrator at the psychology department.
Between 2002 and 2004 as a personal challenge and to raise money for the Heart Foundation, she and her husband walked the length of New Zealand. In 2005 they cycled the length of Japan, a trip that was broadcast on Kumamoto TV. Since moving back to Japan in April 2011, she has worked as a volunteer at local family support centers to teach English songs to children. She loves reading, writing, sewing, crocheting, walking, and cycling. Mami is the mother of a two-year old.
