Bernie Hawke - Dunedin Public Library

Dear Richard

During June and July 2003, a total of 27 senior staff from the Dunedin Public Libraries participated in the three-day Turning Point programme, which you conducted.

While I had been looking particularly for longer-term benefits of the Turning Point programme, I have already become aware of some immediate benefits including an improvement in the working relationships between a number of staff, and a corresponding decrease in the level of frustration and tension in these relationships. In addition, I am aware of a conscious effort by a number of staff to raise and discuss difficult issues with colleagues and supervisors, where previously this effort would have been directed to triangulation and self-doubt.

I am encourages by these early indications, and am committed to reinforcing these positive directions, which if consolidated and enhanced, will result a profound and lasting improvement to the organisational culture of the library.
